Embedded Technology, What Potential Does it Hold?

By mark on October 7, 2011

Embedded technology is advancing at an astounding pace.  The presence of computers continues to increase and surround us in every aspect of life and play a part in how we as humans work, live, and entertain ourselves. Embedded computing allows us to interact with the surrounding environment without the need for human interaction. The potential of this technology to improve and enhance the human experience is limitless. Roads will become safer with continuously updated information. Cars may even be able to foresee dangerous situations or recognize habitual driving patterns.  The medical field is one of the most talked about areas of embedded technology enhancements with devices that monitor patient’s health around the clock and can make adjustments or signal when something is not right. Even the green movement is an area in which this technology can help the cause.

Presenting breakthrough advancements in technology is the continual goal of Intel’s research labs. They work to bring solutions to their customers not only for present needs but envision the future obstacles they will face as well. On a daily basis the lab experts work to solve such challenges as:

  • Blending distributed and centralized processing
  • Extremely low-power computing
  • Energy harvesting and storage
  • Communication protocols
  • Database management
  • Data security

The ultimate goal is to deliver component and processing solutions that can be more easily integrated and readily used in secure platforms, and more importantly in those platforms and devices that we depend on daily. At Oasis we are excited to be part of the solution that is making life easier, safer and potentially helping to save someone’s life.
